Material

The choice of clothing closest to the body is crucial to maintaining an even temperature where heat is preserved, while moisture and excess heat can be transported away. At Cai, we have a wide range of socks in both natural and modern materials to cover several different needs and areas of use.

Modern materials

Synthetic material is a chemical fiber made from oil, hydrogen, chlorine and nitrogen, among other things. These have a higher drying capacity than natural materials and are therefore widely used as functional materials.

ACRYLIC can be compared to wool and is soft and comfortable.

COOLMAX is a soft and breathable material. The Coolmax fiber transports moisture away from the body while also allowing it to breathe. This keeps feet cool, among other things.

ELASTANE OR LYCRA is elastic and is used in clothing that requires great stretchability. It is also dimensionally stable and flexible.

OUTLAST is a temperature and sweat-regulating material that absorbs excess heat, so-called PCMs (phase change materials). The microcapsules, consisting of paraffin wax, melt at high temperatures. When the temperature drops, the stored heat is released, resulting in constant and even heat. The material goes from solid to liquid, and then returns to solid (compare with ice becoming water and vice versa). Best function is achieved if the material is worn closest to the body. Outlast can be knitted with other functional materials.

POLYAMIDE is a very strong fiber that provides incredible durability and is both quick-drying and dimensionally stable.

POLYPROPYLENE is a lightweight and durable material that transports moisture away from the body. Perfect complement to breathable safety and work shoes. Keeps feet cool.

Natural materials

WOOL has high moisture absorption and natural moisture transport, in other words a natural functional material. Wool maintains an even temperature, which provides warmth when cold and coolness when hot. It also has dirt-repellent and antibacterial properties and is fire-resistant. Our wool yarn comes from South Africa and South America where there is no mulesing. The wool yarn we knit with also has OEKO-TEX® certification. We use, among other things, worsted wool. It is a wool yarn in which polyamide fiber has been combed. All to increase the durability of the yarn.

COTTON is a light and comfortable material to wear close to the body. We only use OEKO-TEX® certified cotton yarn.

BAMBOO is a new fantastic material with fibers that make it highly absorbent. The bamboo yarn is also antibacterial, which minimizes bad odors. The material is softer than cotton and more environmentally friendly as no chemical additives are used in the cultivation.

MODAL is made from cellulose from spruce, among other things. Modal fiber absorbs moisture quickly and has antibacterial properties. Otherwise, it is similar to cotton.
